A Well Crafted Life

My weekend began on Thursday with a lovely Valentine’s Day! I mean… it was the BEST. My little guy and I hung out during the morning hours and met my husband for a delicious Japanese lunch at Koji Osakaya in downtown Portland. We love this restaurant for its authentic cuisine and great service. The little guy even managed to work his chopsticks a bit! While my husband went back to work the little one and I hit Playdate PDX for some good ole fashion playtime. I was certain that after 3 hours of playing hard on the Playdate PDX indoor playground X would go to bed early in the evening. But, alas…. he was not giving in! I made a steak for dinner and topped it with a spicy cherry salsa. SO GOOD. And, finally, the night ended off with a nice hot bubble bath with a glass of wine. It was the best Valentine’s Day I’ve had in a long, long time. What did you do for Valentine’s Day?
Lately I’ve been trying to make a point out of hanging out with just the ladies at least once a month. Friday night the hubby watched the kiddo while I went out to paint the town red with a few ladies. The night was an evening filled with delicious Paddy’s lemon drops, an amazing steak sandwich from the Realto, and a lot of laughs. The pictures above are at the end of the night when we started getting silly with our iPhone cameras. Jenn, of Pfaus Photography snapped the beautifully lit shot of us ladies being ridiculous with her iPhone… check her out on Instagram!
After such a busy couple of days we decided to hang out at home and be a little lazy. We played outside in our pjs, enjoyed homemade cauliflower-crust pizza, and chilled on the couch. I did get some new sketchs done and they’ll be heading to my Etsy shop soon!
What did you do this weekend?

I’m always amazed with how quickly the weekend flies by… and, then I sit down to write a “Weekend in Review” post and I realize that there was a good reason for the quickness— I’ve been busy!
This weekend I prepped and help host a Valentine’s Day Ladies’ Night over at my friend Suzannah’s beautiful home. I spent my Friday evening making fabric roses, hand-lettering signs, and prepping Valentines. I have some fun projects from the party to share with you this week, and of course, photos from the party itself!
Saturday was all party, party, party. We invited a few friends over and had a blast chatting, snacking, crafting, and taking photos in the photo booth. (see animation above) These ladies have STYLE! You can look at any of them to get some ideas for something to wear this upcoming Valentine’s Day!

I also secured some final details on the March 10 Portland Bloggers’ meet-up and set up the ticket sales for the event. If you are a Portland-area blogger then you will certainly want to get your ticket before they sell out… this event is going to be AMAZING! Attendees are going to get the chance to pose for Portland photographers, learn tips on how to make their photos better, and more. Click here to purchase your $10 ticket!

I hope you had a wonderful weekend! I’ll be back tomorrow to share some more Valentine’s Day fun!

I feel like my weekend ran over into today… still catching up! What started out as a weekend with no plans ended up being packed full of fun and lots of cooking. So, here is my weekend in review. Remember, if you’d like to link up YOUR weekend in review… do so in the Linky below!

Friday— Don’t those pictures just make your mouth DROOL. I’m working on a fun project with a couple of friends that requires a LOT of recipe and taste testing. The coconut curry and vegan lettuce wrap are two of the creations that came out of the testing as winners! We had a few other tasty items that I will be sharing on the blog as the project forms. So, be prepared to see more and more recipes on this blog and tasty food pictures in my Instagram feed.
Saturday— I laid low Saturday… but, I still ended up making these delicious Ham and Swiss Sliders for lunch. Oh dear… they were amazing. I also helped a friend research information on self-publishing his writing and in the process learned a lot of the hoops I am going to be jumping through in the semi-near future. Then as the night was winding down and the kiddo was tucked in I got to work on a gift for a friend. I did several versions of this hand-lettered wall hanging. And, after some Instagram feed back I finally wrapped it up and put a bow on it!
Sunday— Super Bowl Sunday!!! It may not be a surprise…. but, while I am not a HUGE fan of football I do love a good party. I was happy to head out to a Superbowl/ Birthday party. I made these tasty mini corn dogs and mustard dip for the party. They were tasty enough that I am going to share the recipe with you tomorrow. 🙂 Aren’t I sweet?
Sometime this weekend I also did my taxes. Yep… they are DONE!
Many more weekends like this and there is no way I’ll ever have Beyonce’s legs. They are amazing, aren’t they?
