I’m currently working on helping  a few friends with bridal showers, bachelorette parties, and weddings. It is a ton of fun and the ideas just keep coming. So, when I saw a tweet wondering about Bachellorette party themes I knew I couldn’t just post 140 characters about it. So, below are some ideas for Bachellorette party themes. Now, with most of these themes you can do many different things. You can go out, you can stay in. Whatever… this just gives it a little something extra:

* A lot of these themes have comments for brides-to-be who are of age, and enjoy alcoholic beverages.  I’m certainly not saying that is how a bachelorette party NEEDS to be. I threw my sister a wonderful “Love & Ice Cream” bachelorette party that involved an Ice Cream bar rather than a bar. These themes are just to get people started with some fun ideas.

1. Paint the Town Red

  • Guests wear black, Bride to be wears red
  • Stop off and get mani/pedis (or do it at home)— of course, in red
  • Give red lipstick to all guests— Red lip prints will be everywhere that night. On napkins with phone numbers, glasses, and cheeks a plenty.
  • Have a signature RED drink. Manhattan anyone?

 2. Up All Night

  • Plan an ALL night affair! Whether you are going out for dinner and dancing first or staying close to home, including a late night visit to a 24-hour diner for fries and milkshakes!
  • If you’re going out on the town: Have guests don their favorite “Nighty”—Could be pajamas or a cute corset top with jeans!
  • When back at the house, change into matching (or coordinating) PJ sets, enjoy face masks and late night chats. Do fun games you did as a kid and sink into the nostalgia of a slumber party with your friends before getting married.
  • Favor idea? Give guests fuzzy slippers! They’ll be great for the party, but also come in handy after wearing heels at your wedding all night long!

3. Last Taste of Singlehood

  • Do a “tasting” theme all evening long. Stop off at a wine bar for a tasting flight, then head to a Tapas style restaurant, move on to a club that offers a little taste of all the fun night life options (comedy, jazz, piano bar, dancing, you name it!) and end the evening with a chocolate tasting, taste of ice cream, or other sweet treat.
  • Going out on the town? Have the guests and bachelorette hand out some of their favorite “tastes” to all the cute singles. These can be gum, suckers, etc. It is sure to make a memorable impression!
  • Give guests a pack of Tums for the next day… a night of tasting might need it. 😉 Add in a custom tasting set to mark the occasion. This customizable beer tasting set* would make a really nice favor, as would this wine tasting set*! If you want to go with some more affordable options, I’d recommend personalized wine glasses*! Not tasting alcohol? No problem. Personalized ice cream spoons* with a cute bowl would be a gift someone would cherish for years.

4. Diamonds are a Girl’s Best Friend

  • Bachelorette parties are a time for girls to be with their best friends. Why not add in a little bling?
  • Sprinkle “diamonds” throughout the evening with fake, BIG jewels and crystal clear beverages.
  • Start the evening with a champagne flight at a local wine bar.

5. Like a Lady

  • Have a bachelorette party with some “mad men” flair. Have all the ladies dress up in their favorite “lady-like” looks.
  • Serve classic cocktails like the Manhattan, Classic Martini, Old Fashioned or a Cosmopolitan.
  • Shower the bride to be with classic garter belts and thigh highs.

Some other ideas:

  • Have a bachelor party—For a bride who loves to live it up like the boys… go golfing, go to the races, enjoy a cigar, drink your whiskey neat.
  • Hike— I just recently went to a bachelorette party for a friend who loves the outdoors. The guests hiked up a trailed to be greeted with a sweet picnic of bread, cheese, and wine.
  • Girls Night In— Always fun… hire a massage therapist and enjoy an evening of relaxing at home.

What are your favorite bachelorette party themes? I hope this list helps inspire some to throw an extra special event! I’d love to see photos if you use any of the above themes!

Congrats to Heather & Brandon the lovely couple for whom this party was planned…. Thank you to the bridesmaids for using this “Well Crafted Party” and sending me photos!
And, Thank You HeatherNicolePhotography for the photos.

Remember the lovely couple that got married at VooDoo Too!? We wanted to all get together a week after the wedding and celebrate the union. We decided to have a casual get together with a bit of a comic book theme. I wanted bright colors and lots of quote bubbles throughout the party. We also really wanted to play off all of the bright colors from the wedding and include the wedding photos that I shot.

I only used items that I found in my own house to create the party. We used post-it notes, scrap paper, yellow sticker paper and my printer for most of the DIY decorations. Below are some of the photos from the party. Enjoy!

The decor was all DIY from items that I could find around the apartment. My favorite part of the party was the post-it wall background for the food table. Using a tutorial found on-line I created four bright colored hearts from post-it notes alone. (The tutorial was from Mental Hygiene and was for something much more complicated then what I did!)

I also decorated with good old fashioned paper chains that I created with scrap paper and glue. I made the chains with cardstock and hot glue to make them more sturdy (they are now hanging above my bed as a type of free-form art piece!)

The banner was made using the font “SF Slapstick Comic” found on DaFont.com.

Dessert was mini cupcakes decorated in an array of neon colored frosting and comic-style cupcake picks. They looked adorable stacked up on my homemade cakestands.

The bar was decorated with photos from the wedding along with Comic-style signs. I used cardstock to create frames for the photos and gave the framed photos as favors to guests.

And, the really give the party a bit of fun I added silly signs throughout the party in quote bubbles to help guide guests around the food table.
