If you haven’t been able to tell from previous Halloween posts… I like vampires. I was the kid dressed in black reading Anne Rice’s Vampire Chronicles* throughout most of my formative years. It certainly lead right into my love of Halloween. (Check out these fun Halloween Vampire Portrait free printables!) When creating a recipe out of my favorite red licorice it was an easy jump to vampires. I love how the little bite-sized RedVines Twistettes* made perfect little “vampire bites” on the rim of the glasses.

Halloween is an all-ages holiday in my book, so I wanted to make sure that I had a fun non-alcoholic version of the Vampire Bite drink so that the kids could get into the fun.

Halloween Cocktail – Vampire Bite Cocktail with Red Vines

As with all of my cocktail recipes this is intended for people of legal drinking age. Keep scrolling if you’d like to find a fun non-alcoholic version of this drink. As always, practice safe drinking.

Ingredients:

-3/4 oz of Cranberry Juice (or Cranberry Grape Juice)
– 1 and 1/4 ounces of your favorite vodka
– 1 oz of your favorite orange liquor
– 1.5 oz of dry cherry soda (must be a clear soda)
– 1.5 oz of dry blood orange soda (clear soda again)
– RedVine Twistettes to garnish rim
– Shaker with Ice
– Chilled Martini glass that can hold approximately 6-8 oz of liquid (don’t want it too full!)

Directions:

Garnish the chilled martini glass with the RedVines Twistettes about 1.5 inches apart (should be approximately where the canine teeth would go in the mouth).
Pour 3/4 oz of cranberry juice into a chilled martini glass.
In a shaker full of ice pour the orange liquor and vodka. Shake well to chill. Strain into glass.
Top drink with equal parts of blood orange and cherry dry soda.
Enjoy!

Halloween Drink – Vampire Bite Non-Alcoholic Beverage with Red Vines

Sometimes you just don’t want to drink alcohol or you want to give the kiddos a special treat as well. This non-alcoholic versions of the Vampire Bite cocktail is DELICIOUS and pairs perfectly with the little Twistette bites on the rim of the glass.

Ingredients:

– RedVines Twistettes for the rim of the glass
– 2 oz Cranberry Juice or Cranberry Grape Juice
– 3 oz Dry Cherry Soda (must be clear)
– 3 oz Dry Blood Orange Soda (must be clear)
– Glass with ice and a straw

Directions:

Build the drink on ice by first garnishing the glass with RedVines Twistettes to resemble a vampire bite.
Pour in the cranberry juice so that it sinks to the bottom of the glass.
Top with equal parts of Cherry and Blood Orange Dry Soda.
Pop in a straw and Enjoy!

I am a little surprised at how much I like these glowing glasses. When PremierGlow.com first approached me to work on a post together I *almost* said no because I couldn’t quite see myself using light up barware. Boy am I glad I ended up saying yes. These are SO fun! I like changing up the colors of the glasses to differentiate glasses for each person (easier than labels). I love how it shows off these drinks with tonic water. Gin Mint Lemonade

This cocktail was actually inspired by a very overpriced (but delicious looking) beverage sitting in the beverage section of a speciality food store. The drink was a mint honey-lemonade. I instantly began thinking about how delicious a mint lemonade would be with gin. I mean, really. So tasty. I added in some tonic water for a bit of bubbles, light lemon flavor, and the fun glow effect that tonic has in glasses such as these Flashing Whiskey Glasses from PremierGlow.com.

Single Cocktail Ingredients:

1 1/4 oz Gin
1 oz Lemoncello
1 oz mint simple syrup*
2 oz lemonade
1-2 oz tonic water
Shaker with ice
lemon slices and sugar for rimming the glass
Mint for Garnish

Single Cocktail Directions:

Rub the rim of your chosen glass with a lemon slice. Dip the rim into granulated sugar.
In a shaker combine gin, lemoncello, mint simple syrup, and lemonade. Shake to chill and strain into a glass.
Top with tonic water.
Garnish with mint and enjoy!

Batch Cocktail Ingredients:

1 1/4 cup Gin
1 cup Lemoncello
1 cup mint simple syrup*
2 cups lemonade
tonic water to top each drink
pitcher
lemon slices and sugar for rimming the glass
Mint for Garnish

Batch Cocktail Directions:

This cocktail is a great one to create in a batch, put in the fridge to chill, and then bring it out for a dinner alfresco!

Combine the gin, lemoncello, simple syrup, and lemonade in a pitcher. Stir and put in fridge to chill.
Prep glasses with a sugar rim.
Pour 6 oz of mixture into rimmed glass, top with tonic water, garnish with mint, and enjoy!

How to make Mint Simple Syrup:

Mint simple syrup is super easy to make. Combine 1 cup sugar with 1 cup water in a sauce pan on medium heat. Drop in a few springs of mint. Stir occasionally. Once all of the sugar has dissolved move the temp to low and allow the mixture to absorb the mint flavors for about 15 min. Strain into a bottle and store in fridge up to two weeks.

The final month of Summer is here and I’m trying to soak in as much as I can of these late nights with friends. One recent summer evening we enjoyed an evening out amongst the glow of the fire pit and these beautiful beverages served in LED barware from PremierGlow.Com. When I received these fun LED Black Tie Martini Glasses I knew I wanted to do a girls night or a summer glow themed party. Really though, they would work simply as a way to keep track of glasses since the LED lights can be set to a desired color.

I wanted a flavorful summer beverage that would accentuate the glow of the glass. The flavors of blueberry and orange came to mind almost immediately! I chose a blue/purple colored light to accentuate the drink. They turned out beautiful!

Blueberry Tangerine Cocktail

This was an easy party beverage because it didn’t require a ton of different ingredients and very little prep. I picked up the Blueberry Juice and Tangerine Italian Soda at our local 365 by Whole Foods Market, though you can likely find similar products at your local natural grocery store. You can absolutely make this more of a craft blueberry tangerine cocktail by creating a blueberry simple syrup and orange or tangerine simple syrup and topping with soda water. The drink can also easily be made in a pitcher or served over ice instead of up.

Ingredients/Supplies:

Shaker with ice & strainer
1 1/4 oz of your favorite vodka – I used Ménage à Trois Vodka
1 oz of your favorite orange liqueur
1 oz of blueberry juice
3 oz of tangerine Italian Soda (orange soda would work in a pinch)
Optional: Sugar & orange juice for a sugared rim on glass
Optional: Frozen and sugared blueberries on a skewer for garnish

Directions:

Sugar the rim of your martini glass by dipping the rim into orange juice (or rubbing an orange slice around the rim) and dipping rim into a plate of sugar.
Pour 1 oz of blueberry juice into your martini glass.
Pour vodka, orange liqueur and tangerine Italian Soda over ice in a shaker.
Shake just to chill, strain into the martini glass.
Garnish with a skewer of sugared blueberries and enjoy!
